Audio Engineer / MIDI Musician

Before getting involved with 3D animation, I was an audio engineer doing live mixing, demos and singles for local artists. Additionally, along with a partner James Reyna, I did a Techno style CD project called NOVOX. At the time, in 1991, not many local artists had their music out on CD. We never came up with a stage show and due to other factors, the project fell apart. The NOVOX CD project came after 10+ years of off and on recording sessions of other artists. The Here are some MP3s of the recordings I made in the mid to late 1980's.

(These files no not use a streaming server, they may need to be downloaded before they can be played, right-mouse click and "SAVE LINK AS" if necessary.)

Phase2-PerfectPicture.mp3

Before NOVOX the project was called "Phase 2". Originally intended as a Synth-pop group consisting of James Reyna, Kevin Palmer and David Forbus as producer. Kevin Palmer, originally as the "lead vocalist", quit early into the project. A number of songs had already been sequenced and work on vocal tracks had been started. James went ahead and recorded the lead voice for this song with David Forbus singing backing vocal tracks. This MP3 was made from a rough cassette mix, not a finished prodution. (1989-1990)
Credits:
James Reyna - Music, all instruments, lead vocals
Kevin Palmer - Lyrics
David Forbus - Production/Mixing/Engineering, backing vocals.
Production technique: 8-track for vocals, all instruments synched via SMPTE to Atari ST.

GeneHofford-Tammy&Jimmy.mp3

At the time of the Jessica Hahn, Tammy and Jim Bakker scandal, a local C&W artist (Gene Hofford) wanted to do a song lampooning the situation. Using the classic song "Frankie and Johnny", Gene came up with some lyrics. I've forgotten the names of the people involved. The "news reporter" is resposible for most of the instruments: keyboards, drum programming and keyboard bass. A sax player and guitar player each came in and did their tracks. The voice of "Tammy Faye" was done by the winner of a Tammy Faye look-alike contest who also played Tammy in the music video. The silly backing vocals, the voice of "Jim Bakker" and "Jim Bakker" in the music video is by David Forbus. Produced/engineered by David Forbus. This track was made into a single and music video which received some local airplay.
